iOS12 exceeds 60% share!
iOS12 exceeds 60% share!
The most “fancy” Apple launch ever
At 22:00 Beijing time on October 30, Apple held its fourth conference of the year at the Brooklyn Music Hall in New York.
Before that, the launch was already a big hit, Apple reportedly invited 400 designers to make “invitation logos”, and eventually 370 designers “delivered” on time, 370 invitations for the launch! This should be the most “fancy” launch event in Apple’s history.
The event featured the release of three new Apple hardware devices: the full-screen iPad Pro, the new MacBook Air, and the latest Mac mini.
iOS 12 is getting great reviews, and 12.1 is here!
At the launch event, Cook also praised his own iOS 12 and pushed iOS 12.1 to all users after the event.
The new iOS 12.1 release will bring group FaceTime, dual SIM activation support for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR (e-SIM for foreign countries), over 70 new emoji emoticons, and a host of system optimizations.
In less than a month, iOS 12 share is up another 10%!
Less than 20 days after the last release, Apple has released its latest iOS 12 install base.
The data shows that as of October 29, among Apple devices released in the last four years (excluding new devices released this year), iOS 12’s installed base has increased to 63 percent, while iOS 11’s installed base has dropped to 30 percent. Among all active iOS devices, iOS 12 installed base rose to 60 percent, while iOS 11 fell to 29 percent. Comparing this to the iOS 12 share data first announced by Apple on the 10th of this month, it’s clear that most of the new iOS 12 users are coming from the iOS 11 upgrade.
Developers are also reminded here that every time Apple releases a new system update, Apple wants to see more products that can take full advantage of the new features. Doing a good job of adapting apps to iOS 12 as soon as possible will help increase the probability of your product being recommended for exposure.
The developer backend is updated again, and the latest adaptation standards are released?
With the release of the new iPad Pro, the developer backend has also been updated with the latest adaptation standards for screen snapshots and app previews.
For the latest 12.9-inch iPad Pro, the maximum resolution of the screen snapshot is 2048 x 2732 pixels in portrait orientation and 2732 x 3048 pixels in landscape orientation.
App previews have a portrait resolution of 1200 x 1600 pixels and a landscape resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels (4:3 aspect ratio).
Developers who update their products to match the new screen size will be more likely to get recommendations from Apple, especially since the new iPad Pro focuses on improving the experience in the office space. Developers of such applications should be the first to adapt to the new iPad standard.
Conclusion
Apple’s fourth conference this year not only complements its own product line, but also reflects Apple’s strategic layout for future diversification by linking up with Adobe, 2K, Ubisoft, etc. For developers, it is important to keep up with Apple’s pace and adapt their products to the latest iOS system and devices in a timely manner to give users a better experience and enhance the developers’ perception in Apple’s mind. The event was a great success.
